In 2009 our firm began working with the Auburn schools. We were contracted to provide Facility Data Management over the next five years for the district. This entails the school staff providing capital improvement information to our team. This information is then entered into the state provided, web-based software that tracks capital assets. The information and reports our firm provides for Auburn assists the schools with capital management and budgeting. We detail systems that make up the buildings and their life cycles. We also report on deficiencies and costs to remedy the issues. These reports are provided on an annual basis to the district.

In 2010 our team visited each of the schools in the district - a total of over 590,000 square feet - to perform a Facility Condition Assessment (FCA). Our team reviewed all aspects of the building and updated the data within the web-based software for the schools. This information provided current condition information for each of the buildings and their sites so the district can plan accordingly for the future and their capital management.

Recently, the district announced they have decided to hire McCormick Facilities Managment to produce a long-term master planning report for the district. This service will look at many aspects of operating schools in the Maine community, changes in conditions and population, and the needs of the district. Over the past few years, the district has faced some challenges, has built a new school, and closed others, but are now finding these decisions may not have been with the best preparedness. Our long-term master planning will look at enrollment predictions, changes in the community, and more to help the school district as it plans for the future.
