Colebrook, New Hampshire is hoping to becoming a leader in community heat. In December 2009, they hired our firm to conduct Phase 1 on a feasibility study of their community for the likely success of a community heating project.
Our firm has teamed with partners from various specialties to offer the highest quality recommendations and studies for this northern New Hampshire town.
A local philanthropist took a special interest in the Colebrook, and has agreed to fund the beginning stages of the heating project. Our team is just starting the work and have begun to assemble required information on the community, its resources, needs, and more. We will be looking at all possibilities for heat, but a central wood-fired boiler will be the likely choice for heat for this community - providing heat for several town run buildings.
Many European communities have been heating with this type of heat for decades - this is why we have partnered with an associate from Denmark for his input and conceptual design for this project.
As part of this project, our firm has created a dedicated website for Colebrook. Resources on this site will be minutes and notes from meetings, updates of the status of work, community input, and more. Information will be posted regularly so the community can be involved through every step and can learn about the process as we move along.
Our firm is hoping to use this project as a tool to teach not only the community of Colebrook about the benefits of community heat, but to lead by example for communities throughout New England.
