Welcome to the Energy Audit Report for
SAU 80 - Shaker Regional School District
of New Hampshire
Summary of Findings:
> Canterbury Elementary School consumed the least amount of electricity among the schools in FY09 at 124,081 kWh.
> All four schools went into demand electricity consumption every month during 2009.
> There are 18 ECMs throughout the district that if implemented with save significant energy and payback in 1 year or less.
> Wood fired boilers have been recommended for each of the schools. This recommendation will cut their fuel bill by 50%!

McCormick Facilities Management has over 20 years of experience assessing buildings. The experts that work at the firm have particular knowledge that was shared with SAU 80 in order to cut energy spending.
The beginning steps of the energy audit consisted of collecting data from school staff and from energy providers. Data regarding equipment type, building age, electricity use, fuel usage and more were all a part of the preliminary research.
Once this information was collected, members of the McCormick Facilities Management team visited each building in the SAU 80 district to conduct the energy audit walk-through. During the walk- through an inventory was compiled of all energy consuming items within each building. Items included lighting, exterior doors and windows, insulation, heating and cooling equipment, air handlers, water devices, computers and office equipment, and much more.
This inventory was brought back to the offices in Maine in order to be analyzed. The results of the inventory, in combination with the energy consumption data, was used to make recommendations for changes in the buildings that would save energy and increase occupant comfort within the buildings.
In February 2010, SAU 80 was presented with a final report that outlined all of the findings based on the walk-through and data analysis. The reports also recommended over 100 Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) for the district to consider. Each ECM was given an estimated cost to implement, the approximate savings as a result of the ECM, and a projected payback for that project.
Many tables and graphs were included with the report that help SAU 80 to view their energy consumption and to also see where they stand in comparison to other schools in the region.
